Tech & Mechanics

All Data, One Place

With the release of Ghost of Tsushima Legends, the Ghosts have gathered and collected a lot of information and data on all aspects of the game. From combat data to data about health recovery. The Ghosts gathered it all and picked the game apart. All to better understand the game and to help those who have questions.

Combat

Combat tech covers basic techniques related to the game, as well as more complex tech related to weapon usage, map strategies, etc.

This section consists of a mix of videos to showcase tech examples as well as written information describing execution.

Animation Cancels

Animation cancels consist of attacks/actions that may be interrupted mid-way through their occurrence while still receiving a particular beneficial outcome. SuckerPunch did intentionally create the ability to cancel attacks to make combat more fluid, whether or not each cancel is an exploit or intended mechanic is up for player debate.

Modifiers

Modifiers refer to the various in-game enemy and/or player modifiers that may occur as an innate difficulty (ie Nightmare modes have modifiers that rotate weekly), as part of Boss Waves in Survival, or purchasable in Rivals.

One of the most well known glitches in the game, the ability to use Black Powder Bombs to jump to places you’re not normally able to jump to. This page will talk about the history, some of the mechanics and various examples.

The Barrels & Idols that appear in-game (can be picked up), can be thrown using a mechanical glitch. Using this tech, you can quickly drop and throw them a short distance, enabling you to more quickly place objects (for faster completion in a speed run) or more effectively use the object (place it among a group of enemies with less risk).

WORK IN PROGRESS (PAGE UNDER CONSTRUCTION)
There are various ways to glitch in the environment (most notably to clip through/around obstacles in the Raid). Some of these improve progression, others are just for fun to explore the map.

The Eyes of Iyo are an environmental modifier present in the Tales of Iyo, Trials of Iyo, Nightmare Survival maps (varies week to week), and selectable as a modifier in custom Platinum Survival. This glitch allows you to avoid being ‘trapped’.

The eyes will move about the map, are avoidable, albeit sometimes hard to see. They do follow a set pattern but if a player stands within one for too long (or does not cross through it quickly enough), they will become ‘trapped’ and roots will snare them in place. It will require a form of incoming damage to free them.

Disarming Enemies is a niche glitch that can be done in order to get rid of enemies’ weapons. While this has no real benefit in the various game modes, it’s fun party trick to try out.

This page shows what it is exactly, and how you can do it yourself!

WORK IN PROGRESS (PAGE UNDER CONSTRUCTION)
Testing of Abilities, Techniques, Gear, Properties, Perks, etc.

Explanations and documented testing related to things like ‘Amount of Healing’ generated by an item, ‘Duration’ of an ability (ie how long does Vanish last), and other details.

Damage output of all Ghost attacks and damage sources. Broken out by attack type.

Page includes sub-categories (katana, ranged, etc) and notes on any important information (as well as damage for combos if the damage changes with successive strikes).

A short explanation of the enemies that one will encounter, total health bars (HP), if they wear a helmet, their appropriate counter-stance, and color description of their attire.

WORK IN PROGRESS (PAGE UNDER CONSTRUCTION)
A detailed write-up of Enemies and how many Heavy strikes it takes to fully stagger them. Special notations for ‘close to staggered’ or other abilities that are regularly used and stagger are also listed.

A comprehensive list of all resolve sources, resolve gain rates per attack, total attacks needed to generate 1/2/3 resolve, and any important details about those attack types.

Resolve is generated as a ‘per strike’ system. This system means that damage output is not tied to resolve generated; rather, the frequency of attacks generates more resolve.

Quicksheets & shortened versions (cheat sheets) of the Enemy HP, Damage, & other pages.

These are also a bit more optimized for mobile-friendly viewing vs the standard pages.

Glitches & Exploits

This page is currently a Google Doc detailing a list of various glitches and/or exploits that exist in the game today.

Some of these are considered game-breaking, others are aesthetic.

We do not condone the use of glitches/exploits to compromise Leaderboard/speedruns or to ruin and/or grief other players’ games.
