The Tale of Iyo
Chapter 3
The End of it all
It has been a long, long road. From that very first tree you spawned under in chapter 1, to the broken bridge from chapter 2, and now here, at the foot of the stairs that lead to Iyo. It’s where you’ll be fighting Iyo and hopefully coming out victorious.
But this being Iyo, this battle won’t be a regular one, so you better prepare and be ready for a tough fight!

Just going for a run
After you’ve climbed the stairs there’s quite a long run up until the gate that houses the arena. While running there you should have a build that good at dueling. You know from the main game? It’s that which you are about to do. So decide between your team who’s going to duel Iyo and those who aren’t. At a minimum you’ll have to fight Iyo 3 times, but it’s possible you’ll have to fight her more often.
Into the arena
When you pass through the gate, you’ll be greeted by Iyo and she almost seems frail, but nothing less is true, and you’ll soon be greeted by her puppet, or is it Iyo’s true form? In the arena you’ll find an obelisk and spots where enemies are absorbed. There are also button’s higher up on the left and right. In the sky you’ll find 2 gates, wonder where those lead to…

How do I get up there?
After Iyo’s puppet has spawned, the gates on the floating island will become active, first the left, then the right. To get there have 1 person stand on the button on the left, and then someone can go up and start the duel. The other two people can defend and stop enemies from getting absorbed.
When the person goes through the gate into the duel, everyone needs to be alert and be ready to act and have very clear communications. There are some things you’ll have to look out for.
The Duel and other mechanics
There are a few things that you’ll need to be aware of with this chapter, though it may look simple there are a lot of things at work. While in the duel, corruption builds, if it reaches 10, you’ll fail. There is also an obelisk in the middle, if that is full, you fail. For the corruption, it means you have to be smart and possibly rotate people fighting Iyo.
There are also things that speed up the charging of the obelisk that you want to avoid.

She’s tougher than she looks
When you pass through the gate, you’ll end up in another arena, in this arena no other enemies, just her, Iyo. And she’s fierce. You won’t be able to use abilities, you won’t be able to use your ghost weapons. This is pure swordsmanship. Be careful how you approach her and how you fight her, she’s faster than you think. After a while you’ll lock swords and she’ll throw you out of her realm.
What are those symbols?
While in the duel, it’s important for the person fight to keep an eye out for symbols that will appear around Iyo’s head. Call out where this symbol is, so that the people outside of the duel can shoot the targets that appear next to the puppets head. If they fail to do so, the obelisk charge by close to half. So it’s important to shoot the targets. Shoot them twice for it to work.

More targets
There are various targets that you can shoot, as said earlier, communicate with the person inside the duel to shoot the correct target. Another possibility is that the puppet raises its hand and a target appears. Shoot this twice as well.
Failing to shoot the targets will fill the obelisk a lot. This means that in later stages of the fight, you’ll instantly lose. So always shoot the right targets when you can. The obelisk resets after each phase of the duel.
Get me out! Get me out!
Since the duel is difficult, it’s very likely that you go down while in there. When this happens, you have two options of dealing with this. You can either be revived by the Ultimate of a Ronin, if you have one in the party, or, you can be shot out and revived that way.
To shoot a person out, the people outside of the duel can shoot at a target that appeared over the gate the person went into. Shoot it twice, and the dueler gets shot out.

Defeating her once and for all
As said before the duel is in different phases. With a minimum of three. If you manage to defeat her in the duel, you’ll lock blades and you’ll be spat out of her realm. That’s it right?
Well not exactly. Because it’s Iyo, she’ll have one final surprise for you.
The End
When you’ve defeated Iyo in the duel, you’ll be spat out. And a cutscene will play of Iyo’s puppet falling to the ground, signaling the end. But because it’s Iyo, she’ll instead get more upset, and as a final, desperate act, her true form will appear and you’ll have to defeat her there.
She will spawn alongside a horde of guards, and will try to kill you. Be quick, unleash all you have and finally defeat her!
When you have defeated her it’s over, truly over. Congratulations! You’ve completed the Tale of Iyo! Walk through the white gate to claim your rewards!
