Stacking Effects
When we discuss ‘synergies’, what we are referring to is what stacks and what does not stack across the game mode. Examples would be, if you have Melee Damage % on your Charm = this will apply to your Katana’s base damage. Melee Damage takes place on katana strikes and will be included when you use your Ultimate ability as Samurai or Assassin.
To further this example, when considering which Properties to choose, you may look at Ultimate Damage % and see it is a max of 20% vs Melee Damage % is a max of 12%. You would then need to consider, which one is boosting your ‘overall’ damage the most based on the game mode (ie in Survival you may choose Melee vs Ultimate because you are not using Ultimate as frequently and the damage difference is not that much).
Samurai Example (Ultimate)
Some numbers for you:
Samurai Ultimate (base value): 7 hp bars
Melee Damage % (max): 12% -> 7 * 0.12 = 0.84 -> 7+0.84 = 7.84
Ultimate Damage % (max): 20% -> 7 * 0.20 = 1.40 -> 7+1.40 = 8.40
The final damage difference is 8.40 – 7.84 = 0.56 per strike
Assuming you use the 5-strike ultimate (max possible damage) = 2.8 damage difference. Whether this is WORTH having or NOT is typically a combination of 3 things: Your build, your playsyle, & your skill level
Breakpoints
The last consideration will be what is referred to as ‘breakpoints’, that is, where “bigger number better” either does not result in better results OR the point at which you hit an optimal value (typically based on the HP of enemies).
This comes into play for advanced technical play that involves things like Spirit Kunai (you want to get enemies to within a certain HP range that your Kunai can kill them to trigger the Legendary ability’s cooldown refresh). If you kill the enemies, Spirit Kunai cannot be used, so you want enough damage to get them low HP and in kill range of your Kunai based on your build. In that case, having too much damage will be a bad thing.
