The Fire Spirits of Yarikawa
The Fire Spirits of Yarikawa is the ninth story mission of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends. It follows the ghosts’ assault on Fort Mitodake in search of Iyo’s plans.
Game Mechanic – Fire Spirits
Fire Spirits, also known as Hwachas, are enemies that send a barrage of arrows from a distance. A red ring will appear on the ground before the arrows arrive. Make sure to be outside of this red ring. The legendary charm “Benkei’s Last Stand” can help nullify some of the arrows from the barrage. To destroy them, attack the fire spirits with your sword.
In stories and raid (Tales of Iyo), the fire spirits will only attack if you are in range and visible to an enemy. In survival, they will attack if you are in range and outside of a defense point. In rivals, they will attack across the entire map once the opposing team has purchased them. Only the fire spirits in stories and raid can be destroyed through normal gameplay.
The modifier “Aggressive Enemies” in the Trials of Iyo and in Custom Platinum Survival will cause the fire spirits to attack more aggressively.
Chapter 1
This story starts with the ghosts arriving at Fort Mitodake in search of Iyo’s infernal scrolls containing her plans. But the fort was guarded by deadly fire spirits. The ghosts searched the fort, destroying all those in their path and getting closer to finding the scrolls.

Chapter 2
The ghosts continued their search through the fort until they found the scrolls at the barracks. There they learned that Iyo was building an army in the blood realms and had plans to build a bridge that would reach Tsushima. Iyo was not pleased with your discovery and sent warriors. The ghosts cleansed the barracks of enemies and continued on to conquer the Fire Spirits.

Chapter 3
Iyo planned to use an ancient ritual known as hitobashira, a blood sacrifice to the gods to strengthen the door from the blood realms so it could not be broken. At the top of the fort, the blood portal was open and Iyo’s forces had begun to emerge. The ghosts assail the guards, defeated Mongols, Oni, and Fire Spirits in their quest to reach and destroy the blood portal. Upon succeeding, the ghosts realize their path was now open to pursue Iyo to her realm and stop the onibaba once and for all. The story continues in the raid (Tales of Iyo).
